Sébastien Bouchard set his sights on the Baroque masterpiece by Bolognese artist Marcantonio Franceschini (circa 1680), which illustrates the fateful moment of temptation. He reinterprets as a fresco the monumental original canvas kept at the Mauritshuis, which contrasts with the Dutch realism of the period. Seized by Napoleon before being returned in 1815, the work symbolizes the fall of humanity through a soft light and a harmonious composition.
