Jacqueline Auriol (1917–2000) was a pioneering French aviator and the daughter-in-law of President Vincent Auriol. She held numerous speed records, most notably becoming the first woman to break the sound barrier in 1953. Despite surviving a severe plane crash in 1949 that required multiple surgeries, she continued her career and her dedication to aviation, becoming one of the most iconic figures in French aeronautics. Sébastien Bouchard was commissioned by private clients to paint her portrait on their exterior wall.
